This is the day of the year above all others that as a community we try to raise awareness amongst the general public, policy makers, public authorities, industry representatives, researchers, health professionals and anyone who has a genuine interest in rare diseases.
Here in Newcastle, staff at the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre tried to do just that by participating in a ‘Genetics Matters’ afternoon just before the day itself. Attendees benefitted from a series of talks followed by round table lightning talks. Here are a few photos from the day.
